Nourish Pierce County is a nonprofit organization providing food and emergency service referrals to people in need since 1973. Our mission is to provide nutritious food and support services to people in need with compassion, dignity, and respect. With six food bank locations and an award-winning mobile food bank that serves fifteen additional sites, Nourish serves tens of thousands of individuals each year.  With the assistance of hundreds of volunteers, our goal is to provide each person or family with enough food to make three nutritious meals a day for three days. All Nourish food banks operate on a self-serve model, allowing clients to select the foods that best meet their family’s needs.

Volunteer Coordinator – CLOSED – Filled

If you are a dynamic, hard-working person who likes people, the Nourish Pierce County Volunteer Coordinator position may be for you. Nourish Pierce County relies on hundreds of volunteers to provide food for the tens of thousands of people we serve each year. The Volunteer Coordinator will plan, coordinate and implement all volunteer recruiting, onboarding, orientation, training, recognition, and community outreach activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for coordinating the volunteer and community outreach program, including individual volunteers and volunteer groups. The volunteer coordinator recruits volunteers through community outreach activities by providing information in person and in written form to local businesses, community organizations, colleges and technical schools, and more.

  • This position is Monday-Friday with flexible hours and occasional weekend.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds; ability to sit, stand and walk for hours at a time.
  • Requires ability to conduct written and oral communication using the English language, with professional level spelling and grammar skills.
  • WA Drivers License, reliable personal transportation, and insurance required. This position requires travel to food banks and other locations throughout Pierce County.

Salary & Benefits – Hourly, non-exempt, $45,000-$50,000 a year plus generous medical, dental, vision, SIMPLE IRA matching, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.

Mobile Food Bank Driver & Manager – Open

Reports to: Director of Operations

Status: Full Time – Non-Exempt Hours:  M-F 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Salary Range:  $47,500 – $55,000 plus medical, dental and retirement benefits.

Purpose:  The Mobile Driver/Manager is responsible for all phases of food bank operations involved in the acquisition, maintenance, and distribution of food to customers through Nourish’ s Mobile Food Bank.  The mobile food bank is semi-truck and trailer converted into a food pantry.  The manager safely transports the mobile unit to area distribution sites.  Once parked the manager ensures a warm and welcoming environment for customers to “shop” and provides a positive working environment for volunteers.  Successful candidates must demonstrates effective leadership, good public relations skills and ability to use personal computer technology.
