Legacy giving is a great way that you and your family can support the charitable causes that matter most to you.  These kinds of gifts can do the following:

  • Provide sustainable financial resources to help get food to people in need so they can get back on their feet and move on with their lives.
  • Provide you an opportunity to have your charitable values live well beyond your lifetime.
  • Provide tax benefits that, in many cases, can help assure that more of your hard-earned resources go toward the things that matter most to you such as your family and charitable values.

We encourage you to consult with your attorney or financial advisor to find out if a planned gift or a legacy gift makes sense for you.  Planned gifts can include such things as:

Qualified Charitable Distributions

Depending on your age, if you hold a 401k or other similar retirement account, you may have required minimum distributions.  In some cases, this may create certain tax problems for you that can be alleviated by making a qualified charitable contribution.  Rather than paying as much in taxes, you may be able to decide what cause you would like your money to support.  Gifts from retirement plans are an important way to do this.
